We had the pleasure of speaking with the owner of Purrology Cat Café, Kristina Lynn, to learn more about this dynamic and unique location that’s coming to Lakeland.
And we’re so excited to share it with you! Read more to learn what the mastermind behind Purrology Cat Café had to say.
What is Purrology Cat Café?
Purrology welcomes families into their café to create memorable experiences. When guests enter the cat lounge, they will have hands-on interactions, socializing with free-roaming cats that need adopting.
This loving atmosphere removes the harsh cages to provide each feline with playtime and human interaction, creating the ideal opportunity for finding the next member of your family!
Why Lakeland?
Kristina Lynn and her family have called Lakeland home since 2006. It has provided her and her family with an outstanding quality of life.
After moving to Lakeland, she was given the opportunity to rescue a litter of kittens that needed bottle feeding. From there, she began to rescue more kittens, bottle feeding them, and then, finding the perfect homes for them once they were ready.
As years continued, she noticed the demand for felines needing a home was rapidly increasing. After intensive research, Kristina Lynn discovered that Polk County was the number one county in the entire southeast region for animal euthanasia.
With this research, she felt that opening a haven for our local felines would truly be supported by the community.
What significance does Purrology Cat Café hold?
Kristina Lynn grew up in a family that loved animals – cats being her favorite. After rescuing kittens for years and seeing the need in our county, it became her mission to make a positive impact.
She believes that education is essential and wants to be an active voice for these felines in need.
Purrology Cat Café’s mission statement reads “Our mission is to provide an environment for felines that improves the quality of their lives and to increase the number of feline adoptions in our community.”
Where did the ‘Cat Café’ idea originate?
In 2020, Kristina Lynn rescued two kittens that she found in a car engine at a local dealership.
“I kept thinking to myself ‘how can I do more?’ and ‘what can I do that is bigger and better at saving cats’ because I knew taking in litters at my house was not a big enough impact,” stated Kristina Lynn during our interview.
In 2021, she went to a cat café in Georgia. As she was there, she kept thinking about how cool that experience was and how beneficial it was for the cats.
After leaving that café in Georgia, her sister said, “you need to open a cat café!”.
By the end of the day, they had several yellow legal sheets of paper filled out with thoughts, processes, ideas, and contacts to open Purrology.
Working with our Commercial Director, David Quinones
Kristina states “I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work with David. David took the time to understand the thoughts I was putting into Purrology in order to find the perfect location for it. He was professional, knowledgeable about the market, and diligent when it came to returning calls and emails, which showed his dedication and support for Purrology.”
